The Finnish Drone Strategy has been published: A major step for the sector

The Finnish Drone Strategy has been published, marking a significant milestone for the nation’s rapidly developing uncrewed aviation sector. The strategy outlines a clear national vision for how drones will be integrated, regulated, and leveraged across society, industry and public services in the years ahead.

The strategy highlights Finland’s commitment to safe, sustainable and innovative drone operations, emphasising key themes such as streamlined regulation, societal and environmental impact, business development, technological leadership, security and privacy, and the strengthening of national expertise.

A central focus of the new strategy is enabling scalable and efficient drone operations—including logistics, inspections, emergency response, environmental monitoring, and future autonomous services—while ensuring robust airspace management and maintaining high safety standards.

The strategy also supports the development of U‑space services, improved testing and demonstration environments, and stronger international collaboration. By addressing current barriers and proposing concrete actions, the Finnish Drone Strategy 2024 provides a strong foundation for accelerating the country’s drone ecosystem and unlocking new opportunities for companies, researchers, and public-sector actors.

FUAVE welcomes this national effort and looks forward to contributing to the implementation of the strategy together with partners across Finland and Europe.
